The Design Deck team is the sister concern of V.M Manae Enterprises and is among the top Bengaluru area interior design companies. Since 1989, we have grown in both size and reputation, and we couldn’t be happier. Our priority is understanding the specific needs of each client and applying them throughout the entire interior design creative process.
What we create is born from a collaboration with each client, which is why we include our clients in each step of the process to ensure that our work is exactly what they had in mind. The end result is an inspiring space that promotes well-being.

Our Legacy
Our legacy in the wood industry was started by the most successful entrepreneur in our family Manae Hanumantha Rao. Born in 1883 in a small village named Belthur in the Bangalore district, Manae Hanumantha Rao was the first generation of entrepreneur. As a young man, he helped his father in the fields, but his ambitions were too big to stop at farming. He had a burning desire to build something of his own. So, he moved to Bangalore in 1908 looking for opportunities. Initially, he worked as an artisan, carving and polishing the elegant wooden grains, turning logs of wood into furniture. While working with wood, he developed a deep passion for crafting wooden furniture. To pursue this passion further, he quit his job at the shop he was working at, and started working at a saw mill. He was very interested in learning about the processing of wood. After working in the saw mill for a couple of years, he learnt about the different processes involved in the manufacture of quality furniture.
Soon, he started a timber and saw mill business along with his brother Narsingh Rao Manae under the name “Lakshmi Saw Mill”. The two brothers successfully scaled the business, providing quality wooden furniture to various instituitions. After two decades of persistence and making a name for themselves, Manae Hanumantha Rao handed over his share of the mill to his brother and started another mill in the name of “Bhavani Saw Mill” in Cottonpet, Bangalore, along with his sons Narasingh Rao, Rama Rao and Lakshman Rao.
This firm went on to be the most successful furniture manufacturers in all of Karnataka, supplying furniture and contracting services to Military Engineering Services [M.E.S] which include Air Force base (Jalahalli) and HAL (Hindustan Aeronautical Ltd.), and Vidhana Soudha.
The business flourished under the guidance of Manae Hanumantha Rao and the strategic management of his sons. With the abundance of wealth that he had amassed, Manae Hanumantha Rao wanted to give back to society. With this intention in mind, he built “The Bhavani Kalyana Mandira Charitable Trust” in the heart of Basavangudi in 1960. Where all the proceeds earned by the trust would be used for the development of the society and the development of temples around India.
This deep passion for wood has been passed on for generations in the family and has been a part of us ever since, inspiring each generation to create nothing but the best.
